Harnessing the unlimited opportunities of Smart Proteins in India

Upcoming Event: Global Bio-India 2023 from 4-6 December, 2023.

The theme of the GBI-2023 is “Transforming Lives-Biosciences to Bioeconomy” with focus on ‘Biotech Innovation Ecosystem’ and ‘Bio-manufacturing’.

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India along with its Public Sector Undertaking, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is organizing Global Bio-India (GBI) 2023 from 4-6 December, 2023 at Bharat Mandapam & Hall no 14, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The theme of the GBI-2023 is “Transforming Lives-Biosciences to Bioeconomy”. The event is supported by Industry Associations and Invest India with focus on ‘Biotech Innovation Ecosystem’ and ‘Bio-manufacturing’.

India’s biotech sector has demonstrated its prowess in managing Covid pandemic for about 20% world population with indigenously developed and manufactured Covid Vaccines, Diagnostics, patient monitoring Devices, N95 masks, CoWIN app, etc. The 3rd largest Start-up ecosystem of the world in India has yielded 109 Unicorns and 6300+ biotech start-ups. Besides healthcare, Bio-based green alternate Bio-processes, Bio-agritech, Bio-energy, Bio-plastics, Bio-fuels are necessary for a sustainable future. Increasing awareness has led 22 States to have a dedicated ‘Biotech State Policy’ promoting local manufacturing and innovation ecosystem. With Govt of India’s favourable policies and support, India’s Bioeconomy has increased from 44.1 Bn USD in 2017 to 93.1 Bn in 2022 with about double digit CAGR. To further align with the Government of India vision, the Indian Biotechnology Industry is targeted to reach $150 Bn by 2025 and $300 Bn by 2030.

Recognizing the importance of this sector, Global Bio-India 2023 would deliberate on the opportunities and key challenges in the areas of Bio-Pharma, Bio-Agri, Bio-Industrial, Bio-Energy and Bio-Services sectors. Salient components of Global Bio-India 2023 include events such as Bio-partnering, Policy dialogues, CEO Roundtable, Global Regulators Meet, Investors Roundtable, showcasing through a large Exhibition with Pavilions including Industry/ Start-ups/Country/ Ministries/ Departments/ States and other enablers.

The event is expected to draw about 3000+ delegates from across the globe connecting Indian Biotechnology ecosystem with International ecosystem. This mega international congregation of biotechnology stakeholders would include delegates from India and overseas representing start-ups, SMEs, large companies, Central & State Ministries, research organizations, incubators, investors, regulatory bodies, international associations and other agencies.
